Master's Project Week 8-9

Throughout the past two weeks I have decided to focus more on the visual elements of the world as I feel that most of my time has been taken up with scripting and mechanics creation. I mainly put my attention towards the starting area of the game as this is the first are that the player will see & interact with. The player starts in the back alley behind a bar after receiving the beating of their life and been left for dead. As it is a slum inspired area I wanted to showcase that straight away which is why I went with the design shown below. I went with many buildings almost stacked upon each other similar how many countries in poverty are shown in movies etc. However, to keep with the BladeRunner-esque inspiration I decided to add some sci-fi inspired doors and walls to truly contrast the two styles.

The next area is the Garage, where the player will find their first weapon and medical kits to treat their wounds (to the best they can, they will still have to seek medical attention later on in the level).

The connecting alleyway that the player will find their first engagement with an enemy has also seen more visual changes as has the first "open area" that the first large combat area that shall take place as well as the "nightclub" fight area.

More work needs to be done to these areas as you can see but I'm confident that the final product for all the visual side of this game will all come together within a week or two.
